Pick n mix
ok so heres some moozaq i've been listenin to in the past few months/years/decades. all this stuff from my phone right now wakes me in the morning, shares my sat at the computer work hours, coffee moments, way home on tha train and getting drugk with me pals. its self indulgent but since i've not been participating on a regular basis of late - this is a whole month's fix in one.
Panda Bear - Take Pills has been my morning alarm call for a fair few months now (get up, take yer prozac or not as the case maybe take the train and get to work!) i know very little about animal collective apart from they have native american style names and prolly live in teepees - this is/will be? the last single to come from panda bear's album and doesnt really need any more publicity cos its cult and been blogged ferociously - may aswell join in. the Beach Boyesque harmonies, rich textures and trippy chord changes totally justify the ablums critical acclaimation.
Alan Shacklock interpolating ennio morricone, well not quite but that bombers track i recently put up was the b-side of a disco cover version of the mexican from babe ruth's first album circa 1972 (coincidentally my year of birth, shit! 35 - july 7, wanna get high with me?) well that bombers version is my all time bestist track, but rather than post the babe ruth original that most folk know, enjoy this galloping horse rock track "Wells Fargo" from the same album 'first base'. janita 'jenny' hann's vocal is fuckin great, the sax totally knows when to suck and when to blow and parts of the driving handclap groove demonstrates a serious funk edge. the best thing is that they're english dunno why thats the best, but with a name like babe ruth you could be duped into thinkin they were yankers.
melancholy indie track - know pretty much fook all about Half Cousin but theyre contemporary and it's definatlley got an accordian and what sounds like an oboe in the composition which works for me, this is alroit r kid: Half Cousin - Big Chief (The B&B Frequenter)
last.fm pal from north of the border recommends kiko - monique (thanks tv's Paul Coia ;)) this is a classic from a couple or 5 years back (theres a river city (some toss scottish soap opera soundtrack) thing he recently passed my way, its not here but its uber shit hot too)Thnks Grf.
track sourced from gabba PUSH deserves more exposure, komatrohn is a participant of gabba.cc. he's been posting quality tracks on that blog period. well this is one of his own creations and it's kinda glitchy, great and has a french production stylee aboot it, see what you think but i reckon the avatar that is komatrohn has legs and others dancing and maybe he should get signed to KIN or something?
*production link* since posting the skids thing i've been checkin out BILL NELSON's stylistically diverse back catalogue, the prodcer of said skids track. he's gloriously steeped in english (from yorkshire i think) musical history and very underated check him and his projects (be-bop deluxe for example) out. these are from his new wave transition period (that sounds arty iznit?) three cos there's too much of it i like to decide upon 1.

This druggie electro shit from about 5 years ago slipped me by cos i'd written FC Kahuna off as mediocre big beat dullards - Nothing Is Wrong (thanks to Kentish for bringing this to my attention)
Finally this is fairly recent belgian minimal techhouse BELOW style fing by Deetron - Life Soundtrack (Deetron edit) since panorama bar i'm loving this shit.
No new electro or old italo - leave that shit to the experts mit and jack. whatever you make or do of 'em enjoy what you can. jibOUT x

ITALO, BACK ON THE MENU
It's been over two weeks since our last post. As you probably know Ollie is honeymooning around Europe in a camper van with his lovely new wife Claire and as Ollie is our most dedicated blogger, dig:et:al has suffered.
Trying to redeem myself I've picked some Italo disco tracks that I think you may like. A little homage to our early posts. Both of these artiste are of Confused recordings label
First up is a track by A.I.M. It has an old school electro vibe to it and is not dissimilar to anything by Afrika Bambaataa. Unfortunately I have no other information of this artiste/outfit.
Second is Funky Family's - Funky Is On. A great Italo track with great vocals towards the end. Again no other information. Please get in touch if you have.
Telex consisting of Dan LACKSMAN Lacksman (electronics), Marc Moulin (voices) and Michel Mores (words) released Brainwash in 1981. It's just a fantastic Italo track.
