JIBz Saturday Rippin'

Probably a Robbery
OK so jack slack has his weekly foreplay, now were gonna get down to some real sex. each saturday my *intention* is to rip a piece of my old vinyl for my benefit more than anyone else's - so actually it's masturbation, consider it a treat for my doing it publicly as i'm not known for my exhibitionism.
Second up (after rockberry) is this Thomson Twins B side from '82. Their Quick Step and Side Kick LP was the joint 3rd record i ever owned (maybe we should all post our first owned music it could be interesting, or embaressing) from which came the A side of this 12" - 'Lies' which I rescued from my aunt's loft about 10 years ago, i think it belonged to my cousin, it was dusty as fuck and looked like it had been scratched with wire wool. Well with some TLC, soapy warm water and de-pop n click technology it sounds fair enough to post.
Anyway, I lost my spanky walkman mobile last weekend, i was proper pissed, but it was probably a robbery, hence this choice - btw Renegade Soundwave came a close second.

PS good work kids, great to hear the blog coming of age. lets keep it eclectic for the f-f-freaks

NEW MUSIC

ROBOT NEEDS OIL
A new project from Polish producer Greg Kobe, Volta is a bouncy techy house ting with a touch of rave thrown in for good measure which builds into quite a dance floor monster, it has really grown on me with each listen maybe it will do the same to you.

NEW MUSIC

ROBYN
The queen of queenbees - lioness of juda - Pheonix from the ashes risen.
with trentemoller on the remix, I think this kind of works on a trashy dancefloor Princess Superstaresque vibe.

ROBYN – KONICHIWA BITCHES (TRENTEMOLLER RMX)

FOREPLAY 03

A bit of a mixed bag today, a couple of new dance records and some new wave gear to get your chops around. It's nice to see so much activity on the blog, it's like watching your very own child grow up. Welcome to our newest contributors JK and Amanvir who have both graced us with some quality musical delights lets have more of the same, we are now only waiting for Jon & Pete death to climb aboard and the family will be complete, long live the family. Please feel free to comment and let us have your appreciation for our musical meanderings.

BRAZILIAN BASTARD

My first post, and a bit of a response to the Jean Nipon track.

Proof that all the best music is stupid, here's some dumb Baile funk that I'd hope would fill any dancefloor in anticipation of the real thing and then piss people off with its jack hammer naivety...

Its also nice to find some music that in the days of myspace self promotion is still defiantly anonymous

Anonymous - Virginie

WHAT ABOUT THIS BASTARD?

Heard this on Arcade Mode's Myspaz and it rocks. Played it out last Saturday and the place went mad - so I played it again. Re-wind Mr. Dj! ha

JEAN NIPON - RAW DEAL - sorry about the quality. It still sounds o.k though

POSTIN BY PROXY

Cant see alot coming from me this week, JK asked me to help him flooooood gabba.cc where i've been hanging about for a few years. It was a lotta fun - we did about ten tracks each in 4 hrs (in a slo-mo ping pong fashion) its left me a little worn out.

BERLIN BLEIBT DOCH BERLIN

So I'm off to Berlin on Sunday with Jin. Lookin forward to checkin out the chazas. I might pick up some new wears. It's been a long time since I bought myself anything new to flex. Sayin that, the missus did buy me a t-shirt from the LCD Soundsystem gig lastnight.

Thought I would get in the mood with a bit of German new wave. Can't tell you much about these tracks. Maybe I'll be able to source some more info when I’m over there. Maybe not.

Eiskalte Engel - Kinder aus Asbest

Grauzone - Film 2

BOB JAMES LOOKS LIKE STEVEN SPIELBERG

Came across this Bob James track on Bumrocks.com and it's proper nice. Can't stop listening to it.

I CONFESS...

I've always liked The Beat. They’re sound is more diverse than other ska bands.

The track ‘Hit It" has got a real dancy beat and rhythm, bit like A Certain Ratio or ESG.

“I Confess” is a beautiful song. Dave Wakeling's voice is fantastic on this track. Trumpet solo is pretty good as well.

They're from Birmingham too which is a bonus.

The Beat - Hit It

The Beat - I Confess

TALKING OF IAN DURY

So I haven’t posted on this blog for a while. Been letting the side down a little. Hope they will forgive me. Here's a funny song by one of our favourites. Mr Dury & The Blockheads
